From getting the most from your candles and wax melts to gifting and delivery, we’ve answered some of our most frequently asked questions below.
What are wax melts and how do I use them?
Wax melts are pieces of scented wax designed to be gently melted in a wax burner. Place one wax melt in the burner dish, ensuring it fits without overfilling. Place an unscented tealight underneath and, as the wax begins to melt, the fragrance will gradually be released into your room.
Once the tealight has finished, allow the wax to cool and set. You can melt the same cube again, usually around 3–4 times, until you notice the fragrance beginning to fade.
When the wax is no longer releasing fragrance, it’s time to remove it and replace it with a fresh cube.
How long do ROSE & HERB candles burn?
Our approximate candle burn times are:
- Petite – 9cl: up to 18 hours
- Classic – 20cl: up to 35 hours
- Deluxe – 30cl: up to 45 hours
Burn times can vary slightly depending on how the candle is used. For the best performance, always follow our Candle Care guidance and trim your wick before each burn.
CANDLE CARE
What is the difference between soy wax and paraffin wax?
Soy wax is a plant-based, biodegradable wax made from soybeans, while paraffin wax is derived from petroleum.
We choose soy wax for our candles and wax melts because it suits the kind of products we want to create at ROSE & HERB. It generally burns more slowly than paraffin wax and can produce less visible soot when the candle is burned and cared for correctly.
All of our candles are hand-poured in small batches in South London using soy wax.
How long do your reed diffusers last?
Our Classic Reed Diffusers typically last approximately 4–5 months, although this can vary depending on the room temperature, airflow and how frequently you turn the reeds. Turning your reeds more frequently will give you a stronger fragrance but can also cause the diffuser oil to evaporate more quickly.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Every ROSE & HERB order is carefully packed and beautifully presented, making our products perfect for gifting. We don't currently offer a separate gift-wrapping service, but if your order is being sent directly to someone as a gift, simply let us know at checkout.
Can I include a personal message with a gift?
Absolutely. If you're sending your order as a gift, simply leave your message in the order notes at checkout and we'll include it with your parcel.
What type of fragrance oils do you use?
We use high-quality fragrance oils carefully selected to create the distinctive ROSE & HERB scent collection. Our fragrance oils are vegan-friendly, and each fragrance is chosen for the way its notes work together to create a beautiful scent experience throughout your home.
Are ROSE & HERB products vegan?
Yes. Our home fragrance products are made using vegan-friendly ingredients, including our soy wax and fragrance oils.
Where are ROSE & HERB products made?
Our home fragrance products are hand-poured in small batches in our South London studio. From pouring candles and blending fragrance to preparing your order, we take great care over the little details that make each ROSE & HERB product special.
How can I make my candle last longer?
A little candle care makes a big difference.
Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 5mm. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface of the candle before extinguishing it. This helps encourage an even burn throughout the life of your candle.

How strong should my reed diffuser smell?
Reed diffusers are designed to provide a continuous background fragrance rather than an instant burst of scent. The size of your room, temperature, airflow and number of reeds can all affect how noticeable the fragrance is. For a stronger scent, turn the reeds occasionally; for something softer, turn them less frequently.
Where do you deliver?

Yes! We'd love you to come and discover the collection in person. ROSE & HERB regularly attends markets, pop-ups and events where you can smell the fragrances, explore the collection and find your favourites.
